Manufacturer of high precision machine tools, the Ewag AG company is a leading brand in the world of grinding, electroerosion, measurement, software and laser machining. Since its creation under the name Edel-Werkzeug AGen in November 1946 by MM. Pfluger, Vogt-Schild, Remund, and Vogt, the Swiss company located in Solothurn and having manufacturing facilities in Zuchwil and Biberist, has distinguished itself thanks to its ability to manufature highly performing machines and totally adapted to the activities of its customers. Used today in more than forty countries, Sharpening machiness, CNC sharpening machines and other machine tools labelled Ewag have served - and continue to be used for far a longer time - in the manufacturing of cutting tools used in the machining of high precision very small parts: manufacture of watches and clocks (original specialty of the company), electronics, automotive, aerospace, dental medecine, etc. Establishing its main Sulzer site in Zuchwil around the early 1950s, with thirty employees, Ewag has definitely earned his stripes as a leading manufacturer by designing the prototype WS10, but also and especially the WS11 machine with has know a resounding success with the professionals of the field. By the way, the WS11 is today still highly coveted on the second-hand market. The effectiveness and reliability of this grinding machine repeatedly modified by Ewag makes it particularly appreciated. The transition to the digital control era has been evenly successful for the Swiss firm with the introduction of CNC RS 12 grinding machine model to IMTS exhibition in Chicago in 1986. Meanwhile, Ewag continued its internationalization and thus inaugurated the Ewag Corporation branch in Smithfield in Rhode Island (USA) in 1984. The large catalog of machine tools was subsequently expanded with the arrival of the German company Walter Maschinenbau GmbH to the group, which main shareholder is Körber Schleifring (Hamburg) since 2000. Ewag, are now universal manual or CNC sharpening machines, laser machining devices and first class measurement applications.
